Summer is in full swing, and by now you’ve probably swapped your heavy winter coats and boots – but what about your products?  Skincare products containing retinol are a favorite of ours during the colder months, but we tend to shelf them in the summer.

Retinol boosts cell turnover, eliminating dull skin cells and making way for healthy new ones. But left unprotected, these new skin cells can easily burn.  According to Marda Levy of DefenAge, there might be a safer alternative that delivers the same benefits – skin rejuvenation, boosting brightness, epidermal thickness and cell turnover– without any of the side effects or sensitivity.

Defensins are small messenger molecules that are released in our body when we have a wound and are responsible for starting the cascade of healing with new fresh skin. When used in skincare, they activate dormant stem cells to encourage a new epidermis to grow, leaving behind a “fresh” top layer of skin, improving fine lines, wrinkles, texture, sagging, pigment, and pore size.

We talk to Marda about the clinical results from using defensins with DefenAge, including improved small and large wrinkles, reduced pore size, and lightening discoloration.
